All three of my picks just happen to be local Chicago artisans. First up, is Janet Catlow, from Shine Handmade. She has the most incredible eye for fun and vibrant fabrics combined together to make wonderful Holiday table toppers, runners, tree skirts and more! Visit her web-site to peruse the ever changing inventory. You will need to check back often for these are one of a kind items. Once they are sold, they’re gone!
Next up is Marla Fry, who used to live in the city and is now on the outskirts of town. She paints the most adorable whimsical scenes on vintage window frames. I could have taken home absolutely every one of them. Stop by her web-site to see more of these happy hand painted antique windows and pictures of smiling customers with their windows in hand!
Finally, my favorite stocking stuffer, The Windy City Soap, made from Abbey Brown Soap Artisans in downtown Chicago. I look forward to visiting her booth every year to see what’s new. As usual, her booth was packed, but I managed to grab a few fun gifts.
I only had two hours to attend the show on Sunday and that was definitely not enough time. If you are ever planning a visit to Chicago around the holidays, try and make the One of a Kind Show. It is well worth the trip to spend the ENTIRE day with these exceptional artists. And on a personal note, I did buy my husband’s Christmas gift there, but since he occasionally reads this Blog between the sports pages, I’ll have to post that one up later.
P.S. Straight No Chaser was great on Saturday night!
