The Ryder Cup

While I was at Elkhorn today, we lost the Ryder Cup.  What the heck happened?

Destination: Yearbook

I had a chance to visit Yearbook in Forest Park recently.  Being the keeper of all the college memorabilia here, I wanted to see if they happened to have something I needed to add the mix.  Loved it.  The owners here definitely have the vintage eye and are able to combine some interesting reproductions with the original 1920’s pieces.  It is definitely worth the trip to view the eclectic collection that has a manly vibe.  Hat’s off for the window displays, they are fab.  I’m just hoping someday they will consider hunting down a few sorority pins in the future.  Still searching.

Painted Halloween Cans

I was out with my mother this week wandering Indiana when we spotted these adorable tin cans all painted up for Halloween.  Some people are just too clever.  I bought them all.  Now, was it just pure coincidence that the mall was named Alley Cats Antiques?

The Glass Pumpkin Patch

Mark your calendars now to visit The Glass Pumpkin Patch at the Morton Arboretum.  There will be over 3,000 hand blown glass pumpkins made by fabulous artists on display the week of Oct. 17th through Oct. 21st.  The market will open Friday, Oct. 19th at 1:00p.m.  Last year I arrived to this inaugural event on the last day during the final hour.  This year, I plan to be first in line.  I hope to see you there.

Vintage School Desk

This is my inspiration piece.  I have one of these vintage school desks sitting in my attic waiting to be painted.  Soon we will be able to compare the two.

Hand Painted Dresser

People who know me well can attest to my fondness of mahogany furniture and the color black.  As I rounded the corner at a recent estate sale, there sat a vintage mahogany dresser in black semi-gloss with the hand painted pears.  It is a lovely combination that I’m saving in my idea files for the future.  Linking to:  Furniture Friday

My guess is that lower Michigan is looking a lot like this vintage postcard today.
