The month of May has finally ended and I can hear my entire family breathing a sigh of relief. May is their least favorite month. My husband calls it the May Trifecta. My Birthday, Mother’s Day and our Anniversary all within 10 days of each other. Pure torture. Everyone thinks I am difficult to buy for. I’m not. This year, the above vintage Pixie Doorstop was my birthday surprise. Found: Great Lakes Antique Mall, Coloma, MI on the way to pick up our daughter from Univ. of Michigan for the summer. Love it.

When I saw this vintage meat dome with Kathy on Tuesday, I knew I had to have it. It took 3 days and 3 markets for the price to come down. Maura and I purchased it Thursday at the May’s market. Brimfield is a funny place. As the week goes on, some of the prices for items go up and some go down. This time luck was in my favor. The dome fit in the extra suitcase I had brought to bring back my treasures. Flying back to Chicago, it also triggered an entire bag search through security, but the TSA searching through my carry on loved it. So do I. Now my husband can let the turkey rest before carving. A constant running battle after the meat is cook. You should allow meat to sit a full 15 minutes before carving and now it will safely under the dome.

My husband hates these lamps. My good friend Erin agrees with him. When I look at them, I imagine this couple is always talking about something. He said, she said. I find them endearing and am sharing them with Alison at The Polohouse for Favorites on the First.

Found: Antique French inkwell, Jackson Square Mall, La Grange, IL

Found last year: Inkwell with bird, Treasure Island, Naples, FL
I love these inkwells and actually have a few fountain pens to go with them. I received my first Montblanc fountain pen, Christmas 1976. Since then, I began collecting pens from the 1920′s with our family name that have silver and gold overlays. They are beautiful.

My everyday glasses are antique Westmoreland EAPG tumblers from 1908. I use them with my daily green smoothie. This one happens to contain spinach, a banana, golden flax seed, ice and some almond milk. A healthy start to the day. I also use a Vita-Mix, an expensive purchase that was worth every penny and I couldn’t live without it. I am always on the hunt for these tumblers, so if you see one anywhere, let me know.

I found this vintage Cornell watch the other day out at the Grayslake Flea Market. It was not in working condition, but was gold-filled 17 Jewels and had a nice clear bubble glass. A little TLC along with a new band it is working like a charm and looks brand new. It is my new favorite thing which I am sharing with Mockingbird Hill Cottage and all my watch friends over at Collector’s Weekly.

This is my vintage reverse painting on glass that I pulled out of the basement for Mardi Grass and Valentines Day. I’m just finally getting around to putting away all the Christmas decor today. Not one of my favorite jobs so anything to delay (like taking this picture and posting) works.

I know, I was suppose to be skiing, but you couldn’t be on the slopes all the time. Vail had adorable shops to visit and my vintage eye found these to die for asparagus tongs at Annie’s. They appeared to have English Hallmarks from the 1800′s made from sterling silver with ivory carved handles. Just divine. And once again proving to my husband, you can antique anywhere.
