The Huntress and Hunter Bookends

The Huntress and The Hunter Bookends.  Unmarked, from my collection.  I think she is trying to shoot him.  Maybe this was a subliminal kind of purchase.  Looks like the dog is on her side.

Flower Basket Bookends

Did I mention that I collect bookends?   I have several different genres and the vintage flowers basket bookends are one of my favorites.  These seem to go along with my vintage flowers basket doorstops, post here.  I sometimes forget that I am a collector.  My family is used to the amount of pattywhacks in the house.  The other day a friend of mine stopped by for a visit with her father-in-law.  He sat there a minute, looked and me and said, “who’s the collector?”  I just laughed.   It was a compliment that he noticed.

Gel Stained Syroco Bookends

My collection of vintage Syroco bookends has always fascinated me.  I enjoy the stylistic carved detail but have never loved the orange cast on the faux wood.  Yesterday, I decided to try using the General Finishes Java Gel Stain leftover from staining a pine table which you can read about here.  The results?  Much better.  I think I may have to stain them all.
