Blogland at Christmas

Vintage Child's Ice Skates 001

I’m sure most of you think I’ve given up on my Blog and disappeared.  Not quite.  I have disappeared, but I am not giving up on my Blog.  It will be awhile before I am back.  It’s been a very long emotional year.  We all have one of those every 20 years or so.  I’m cleaning out the attic tonight and found these adorable children’s vintage ice skates that I bought so long ago that I just cannot remember where.  That again is not like me.  I remember every moment of where I was and when.  I need to run.  My husband is calling.  There’s more to move.  But know, I’ll be back.  Enjoy the holidays!  And Peace to all.

Antique Christmas Window Display

On my drive home tonight I stopped by and admired the Christmas windows at Rosebud Antiques in LaGrange, IL.  Kim and Candy always pull out their fabulous collection of vintage Christmas.  It is one of my favorite stops during the Holiday season.  You can’t help but smile and the windows glow Christmas all night long.  Beautiful.

Christkindlmarket Night Chicago

My daughter and I spent this evening at the Christkindlmarket in Chicago’s Daley Plaza.  A beautiful night with carols being sung by the choir and festive Christmas ornaments abound.  This year we brought home the Chicago Skyline ornament and couldn’t pass on the Chicago Bean dressed for the holidays.  They are both absolutely fabulous and are now hanging on our tree at home.

Next, we headed over to Marshall Field’s (aka Macy’s) to see the Christmas windows and holidays displays.  Of course, our visit wouldn’t be complete without Frango mints and a stop at the Walnut Room to view the Christmas Tree.

Finally, we ended the evening with dinner and drinks at Petterino’s where the food was fabulous, the atmosphere festive and the company, the best.  Love you always Abby!  Mom

Vintage Christmas Tree Pins

Just wanted to share some of my favorite pins from my vintage Christmas jewelry collection.  My favorite part of this season is to be able to take these lovely works of art out of the drawer and wear them out and about throughout the holiday season.  Most are Hollycraft pins, a couple of Weiss and one unmarked.  Ready to pin one on and head out the door.

Christmas Pants

As I was running down the sidewalk today heading for Starbucks to grab a peppermint mocha, I saw these Christmas Red corduroy pants in the window at J McLaughlin and yes, they are embroidered with Christmas Trees.  Okay, too cute and there is not one person in my house who would wear these, except me.  I do believe they were men’s pants, but I’m  just going to have to go back in this week and check them out in person.  You gotta love the season.

Favorite Christmas Card

This is my favorite Christmas Card of the season, so far.  It is from my neighbor in Michigan of her two dogs on the sofa in the cottage.  Absolutely adorable.  Love it!
