Back by popular demand, here is this year’s Pumpkin Planter Parade 2013.  It was a beautiful cold fall day in my neighborhood and a feast for the eyes.  Enjoy!  And to see last year’s parade, click here.

The black cat match and candleholder was made in Germany from an earlier time.  Just the right touch for the table.  Happy Halloween!

Glass Pumpkin Patch 2012

After three days of rain and three attempts to drive to The Morton Arboretum, the sun is finally shining and I was able to make it to the glass pumpkin show.  You have one more day to get there and you should.  People were grabbing pumpkins faster than I could take pictures.  If you turned around, they were gone.  Luckily, my husband had my back and snagged one for home.

Halloween Vignettes

I have no idea where the trick or treater silhouettes came from, but I absolutely adore them!  These were the other scenes from my pumpkin planter walk.  The spiders sitting on top of the hedge caught me by surprise.  I jumped.  I think Halloween is beginning to outpace Christmas on the outdoor decorating scene.  I’m not sure I will be able to keep up!

It was such a beautiful fall Sunday that I decided to talk a walk around the neighborhood and check out everyone’s pumpkin planters.  These will be my inspiration for next year.  I think my favorite was the planter with the pumpkin turned sideways.  Great idea.

Kane County October

A beautiful Sunday in October for the Kane County Flea Market.  The laugh of the day was the sign in a booth that read:  We Speak Haggle.  Too funny!  There were plenty of gnarly pumpkins and gourds to be found.  Unfortunately, I ran out of arms to bring home the pumpkin topiary.  Besides finding a super deal on green depression glass plates, my only other purchase was the single church bookend which I couldn’t resist.

Anyone up for making some cross stitch Halloween pillows?  Nan at Threadwork Primitives sells this pattern in her Etsy shop.  I’m thinking about it.

Painted Halloween Cans

I was out with my mother this week wandering Indiana when we spotted these adorable tin cans all painted up for Halloween.  Some people are just too clever.  I bought them all.  Now, was it just pure coincidence that the mall was named Alley Cats Antiques?

The Glass Pumpkin Patch

Mark your calendars now to visit The Glass Pumpkin Patch at the Morton Arboretum.  There will be over 3,000 hand blown glass pumpkins made by fabulous artists on display the week of Oct. 17th through Oct. 21st.  The market will open Friday, Oct. 19th at 1:00p.m.  Last year I arrived to this inaugural event on the last day during the final hour.  This year, I plan to be first in line.  I hope to see you there.
