Unlike every store in America, I am trying to hold off on the Christmas decor and enjoy one holiday at a time. It’s Thanksgiving, not Christmas. I just want to savor the moments and spend this time with my family before all the Christmas craziness begins. We have much to be thankful for.

Now, just waiting for the kids to come home.

Holiday flea markets are the best time to search for vintage turkey transferware platters and large serving platters in general. This is a sampling of what I found today at the Grayslake Flea Market. I would have bought the blue turkey platter in a heartbeat but, unfortunately, it had some major damage that wouldn’t have held up with my dishwashers here.

I didn’t get a chance to go out to Kane County this weekend and only had time for a quick trip to Jackson Square Mall in LaGrange. Sitting in booth #111 downstairs was a very clever idea for the use of a vintage suitcase. I love the collection of vintage turkey planters along with the turkey salt and peppers. Doesn’t this look fabulous? I may just have to do something different with my turkeys this year.
It’s time to put the Turkeys away and head over to the One of a Kind Show in downtown Chicago. Before I go, I wanted to show you what you can do with a vintage postcard collection. You make things! I photocopied, enlarged and laminated my Thanksgiving postcards. They are fun to have on the kitchen table throughout the holiday season and clean up is a quick wipe down. I love to make and give these placemat sets as gifts to special friends. So, now you know what to ask for this Christmas……….a laminator!
